April has been hectic for many of us with the weather events at the start of the month causing many extra hours of work, inconvenience and clean up. This month has also been hectic in the District with the final preparations for the annual Rotary  events that are District Conference and District Training Assembly in New Plymouth.

Having returned home from New Plymouth via the opportunity to attend the Rotary Conference arranged visit to Parehaka Marae on the western side of the Taranaki bight, a number of Rotarian's and myself have been enlightened and perhaps have a new worldly view of peace and resolution from a New Zealand perspective.

At District Training Assembly many Rotarian's picked up on information to assist them with their role in their Club and in the District in the coming year.The key message for all as we head in to the last two months of this Rotary year and before we start the new Rotary year on the 1st of July is to plan and prepare your Club activities and strategies to achieve the following;

  • Think of our Clubs future with reference to your Club profile and new member opportunities. Or indeed new chartered or supported Clubs in your community including Interact, Rotaract and Satellite Clubs.
  • Pick up existing projects for completion or further work from the current Club President. Directors and Board to take forward to the new year and the new Club leadership team.
  • Review your received Rotary President Elect and Club information pack of material that your President now has to review the plans with your Club Board and Directors for the coming year.
  • Plan to deliver the key outcomes that your Club is focused on for the coming year.
  • Set your budget and goals for the coming year with key months, activities and projects identified that you can share with your Club
  • liaise with your club cluster Assistant Governor to provide the insight into the coming year of activities that your Club is looking to plan to achieve.
  • Book and advise times for key events and promote them to your District Governor Elect !!
  • Check the District 9940 Website and provide your Club with regular updates on activities and projects that your club are keen to achieve.
  • Ensure that you have updated your Club data in Club Runner for all Club positions and roles. This will synchronize with My Rotary. AG's will be able to be advised if there are gaps in the data that has arrived in the system. Remember .. this IS the data repository for all Clubs in the District. Any queries about achieving a 100% data input level please give you AG a call.
Lastly, can I invite you to plan to have your Club well represented in Palmerston North on the 1st of July for the District Changeover. More on this soon, but it will be a great day to have our Rotary support for our communities on display ad promoted at large.

This is when we will really start to Go Wild About Rotary and ensure we are Making A Difference !!
