RANZSE STUDENT, Ariana Davis flew to Australia starting her 12 week Exchange with Tahlia Barwick, in Tamworth, on Saturday 21 April
A very excited Ariana, sponsored by Rotary Club of Waikanae, flew to Sydney and was met by her 'Match' Tahlia and her Mum who were delighted to meet her in person.After a day in Sydney seeing the sights they flew to the Sunshine Coast to meet the rest of Tahlia's family for a week before heading home to Tamworth where Ariana and Tahlia will be attending school together.
What a delight to see 2 happy girls enjoying each other's company and looking forward to sharing their time together in Australia. They have been in touch on Skype for the last 3 months getting to know each other.
Ariana and Tahlia will be returning to New Zealand on 30 June where they will be both attending Paraparaumu College.
Both families are not Rotarians, and the only involvement with Waikanae Rotary Club is providing a Mentor, families attending at least 2 meetings and doing presentations, and $500 to cover Ariana's Badge, Jacket, Shirts, and a travel bag.
If you are aware of a suitable Year 9 2018 student please do not hesitate to make contact with me to apply. This is a programme for 14-15 year olds to spend time away from home by themselves, and also gaining confidence to make them realise that they could do a 12 month exchange.
