District Governors December Message
District Governor Martin’s December Message
Rotarians in District 9940 have had a very busy year.  Denise and I are impressed with the wide range of community activities and the huge number of volunteer hours that Rotarians donate to support their community and those overseas.

We have now visited 53 of our District’s 55 Clubs and there is something quite different about each Club.  I highlight some of the differences in my blog at http://d9940.blogspot.co.nz/ so that you can all get a taste of what other Clubs are doing – whether it is attracting new members, renewing aspects of a Club, starting a new Interact Club, or carrying out innovative projects that make a significant impact.

Levin Rotary Ambitious and Innovative
Mark Conroy, Daphne Linnel. President Barry Rollinson, Linda Archer,
and PDG Allan Birrell inside the Charity House
Denise and Martin Garcia finally visited Levin Rotary after their last week's visit had to be called off due to flooding preventing them getting out of Wellington.

Levin Rotarians have taken on an ambitious project.  They are building a house that they will auction off to raise funds for a Trust that will provide Chromebooks to students in Levin.  They are receiving many generous offers of support from local businesses and tradespeople.
The Charity House provides great visibility for Rotary as it on State Highway 1 as you pass through Levin.

"Go WILD about Rotary!"

As we look forward to the Summer and for many of us a time with family and friends over the Xmas and New Year holiday break, I reflect on the first 5 months of this Rotary year.

Its been a lot of fun being on the countdown to my year to "Go WILD about Rotary!" as our District Governor. I have admired the energy, enthusiasm and passion that District Governor Martin has achieved through his leadership of our District 9940, and his duty of care in the role for supporting and encouraging the many and varied facets of Rotary that our District Committees, Clubs and Rotarians contribute to and make happen.

Women in Rotary
Deb Gimblett asked me to advertise Women in Rotary which is to be held 8 March 2017 and sent me some material.  Some brand new and some dating back to 2013 and  an article dating back to 2000.
The sad thing to me, was the quote from Judy Magub, Governor District 9600 in 2000/01

There is interesting reading in the Rotary Down Under magazine of March 2013  and the following comments today from Deb Gimblett
