Shelterbox
Fiji 2016 Cyclone Winston

Shelterbox is one of Rotary's stand-out examples of how the power of Rotary grows one simple bright idea into a global aid organisation which takes its place equally among international relief aid agencies helping disaster victims. The concept and early projects were created and developed by a Rotarian in the Rotary club of Helston, Cornwall in England.
ShelterBox responds to earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, hurricanes, landslides, typhoons and conflict by delivering lifesaving aid to families at a time when they need it the most. In March 2012, formal recognition of the charity by Rotary International resulted in ShelterBox being appointed the very first, “Rotary Project Partner”.

ShelterBox relies entirely on public donations and could not operate without the generosity of Rotarians and people the world over. A ShelterBox can be sponsored for NZ$1,500 – which takes into account the cost of all materials, its packing, storage, transport worldwide and delivery to families in need at a time of disaster by our own ShelterBox volunteers.
Highly trained ShelterBox Response Team volunteers or SRT’s, distribute boxes on the ground, working closely with national and local government, international aid agencies and Rotary clubs worldwide.
