Levin and Taihape Rotary Clubs Celebrate 75 years
Both Levin and Taihape clubs were chartered in 1945. On the 26th of September we joined together in Levin to celebrate at the Council Chambers with a meal and entertainment.

We were joined by DG Gillian Jones and Kevin, AG Michael Fagg and Heather along with Rotarians, both past & present, and their spouses, representing both clubs. We were treated to some wonderful historical stories recounted by both our past and present members.

President Jan Byford, of Taihape club, spoke briefly, she then presented President Jocelyn with their club's banner before calling on long serving Rotarian, Colin Baird who had prepared a great story and slide show on the clubs major activities and events over the past 75 years!

President Jocelyn Hogg from Levin covered the first 35 years of Levin Rotary mentioning names, places and events that reminded those in attendance of how far Rotary had come since the 1945 - 1980 meetings in Levin.
DG Gillian Jones congratulated the clubs for reaching this amazing milestone. Several past members spoke about specific projects they had been involved in. It was a great night for reminiscing and catching up.

A celebratory birthday cake was then cut with the honour shared between the longest serving Levin Rotarian, Ray Harvey and the newest Taihape member, Jesy Chai.

Around 80 people joined in the celebration, which was originally planned by the late PDG Alan Birrell, who's inspiration & contribution will long be remembered by Rotary.
