Rotary New Zealand World Community Service (RNZWCS)
This recognised Non-Government Organisation (NGO) facilitates the international aid and development work undertaken by NZ Rotarians and their partners.
Each of the six NZ districts is represented on the board. RNZWCS is registered with the Charities Commission and of particular importance is the MFAT requirement to have a single NZ interface when accessing funds.
Clubs seeking funding must work through RNZWCS, who also maintain a register of potential projects and provide opportunities for clubs to participate in larger world community service projects.
RNZWCS Limited (Rotary New Zealand) has been granted overseas donee status by Parliament according to Schedule 32 of the NZ Income Tax Act 2007. Schedule 32 lists approved charities who apply some or all of their funds outside NZ. This means that donations through RNZWCS Limited will entitle individual taxpayers to a tax credit.
Please refer to the RNZWCS website for more details, including insurance for Rotary volunteers.
(Note: Travel policies usually exclude cover for work as a volunteer. For people working overseas voluntarily on a Rotary international project, it is strongly recommended that travel insurance is arranged through RNZWCS, as voluntary work will be covered.)
